Letter From the President
November 20, 2019
ARN MN Chapter Members,
As the holidays stumble upon us, it is always a great time for reflection of the past year’s achievements, challenges, and captured memories. However, reflection is not the only opportunity during this time of year because it also allows for the creation of new goals for the upcoming year. Reflection and setting new goals are exactly what the MN Chapter Board of Directors will be focusing on in the next coming months and throughout 2020!
The last couple of years for this chapter have been challenging as board members have transitioned to new roles or increased family demands meant giving up one additional commitment. Through all of this, the chapter has somehow been able to maintain and not dissolve! I have to give great thanks to our current Treasurer, Darren Froehle, and our Education Chair, Val Pearson, for not giving up on the chapter and their willingness to stay in vital roles to ensure the chapter didn’t dissolve! The upcoming year is looking even more positive as additional chapter members have begun to express desire to join the endeavors of the Board of Directors. If you have a desire to be a part of the board of directors, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or another Board of Director!
There are a couple of vital positions that are open that we would like to see filled. Currently, the Vice President and Secretary positions are vacant and are in need of someone to fill. The descriptions of these positions are listed below.
Vice President. In the absence of the President or in the event of the President’s inability or refusal to act, the Vice President shall perform the duties of the President, and when so acting, shall have all the powers of and be subject to all the restrictions upon the President, and shall perform such other duties as from time to time may be assigned by the President or by the Chapter Board of Directors.
Secretary. The Secretary shall keep the minutes of the meetings of the Chapter Board of Directors in one or more books provided for that purpose; see that all notices are duly given in accordance with these bylaws or as required by law; be custodian of the corporate records; be responsible for membership applications and renewals; and shall perform all duties incident to the office of secretary and such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the President or Chapter Board of Directors.
Each year the chapter is required to conduct four regular meetings and unfortunately, over the last couple of years we have not been successful at reaching this requirement. However, in 2020 we are turning over a new leaf and will be hosting meetings each quarter. If you have a desire to host a board meeting at your facility, please let me know and we can begin to work on logistics of this. Reflecting on past chapter meetings, there was typically an educational component before or after the meeting was conducted. This is another great opportunity for nurses in your facility to educate and teach on a rehabilitation topic. Additionally, it is also a great way for members to obtain additional CEU credits that are rehabilitation focused! If you have an idea for an educational topic that you would like to host at your facility, please let me know so we can begin working on the logistics and getting information out to the chapter members.
